Placeholder throws like UnsupportedOperationException("not implemented") are normal during development, but if left in shipped code they cause unexpected runtime crashes.

Incorrect

public BigDecimal calculateTax(Order order) {
    throw new UnsupportedOperationException("not implemented");
}

Correct

public BigDecimal calculateTax(Order order) {
    return order.subtotal()
        .multiply(taxRateFor(order.region()));
}

Fix

Replace placeholder throws with a real implementation, or mark the method with @Deprecated/an issue if intentionally left unfinished.
