Creating an architecture decision record (ADR)
The ADR module stores your architectural decisions in a numbered, traceable form.
Creating a new record
Section titled “Creating a new record”- Go to ADR → New decision.
- Write a title; AppArch assigns an automatic, sequential number (e.g.
ADR-0007). - Write the body in Markdown - with Context, Decision, and Consequence sections:
## ContextWe need asynchronous communication between services.
## DecisionRabbitMQ will be used as the event queue.
## ConsequencesOperational load increases; supersedes ADR-0003.- Save - the record is created in the “Proposed” status.
Status transitions
Section titled “Status transitions”The MADR lifecycle: Proposed → Accepted → Rejected → Superseded. In the decision detail, use Change status to transition; each transition is recorded.
Supersession
Section titled “Supersession”If one decision supersedes another, select the relevant ADR in the “Supersedes” field of the record. The link is preserved; the old decision is marked “Superseded” and the answer to “why did it change?” is always at hand.
Export
Section titled “Export”Use ADR → Export to download all records as JSON, CSV, or a Markdown ZIP - ready for audit and backup.
